Isak urges Liverpool to build on unbeaten start

Alexander Isak has challenged Liverpool to maintain their momentum after scoring again in the Reds’ 2-0 victory over Ipswich Town.

The Sweden striker found the net for the third consecutive game on Friday, matching his entire Premier League goal tally from an injury-hit campaign last season.

Isak’s early form has made an immediate impact at Liverpool, who remain unbeaten under manager Andoni Iraola. After another important win, the forward said the team must continue progressing as the demands of the season increase.

The victory over Ipswich Town gave Liverpool another positive result, although Isak admitted he would have preferred an even stronger record from their opening three matches.

“I feel good,” Isak told Sky Sports News.

“Obviously, I would have preferred if we had won all of our three games. But we won the last one and we have got to keep going like that.”

His latest goal has continued a rapid start for a player whose previous Premier League campaign was affected by injury. Having already equalled last season’s league total, Isak will now look to extend his scoring run as Liverpool face a change of competition before returning to domestic action.

The striker believes the performance against Ipswich can provide Liverpool with the confidence and energy required for their next two fixtures.

“We’ve got to use the energy from that game and use it to put in another good performance,” Isak said.

Liverpool’s attention now switches to the Champions League, with Atletico Madrid due to visit Anfield on Wednesday. The match will provide the next test of Iraola’s unbeaten side and give Isak another opportunity to maintain his strong start in front of the home supporters.

The Reds will then return to Premier League action on Saturday, when Fulham travel to Anfield. Isak will be aiming to carry his current form into that fixture and add to the three goals he has already scored in his first three games.

For Liverpool, the immediate priority is to preserve the momentum created by Friday’s success. Isak’s contribution has been central to that positive opening, but the Sweden international has stressed the need for the team to keep producing performances rather than dwell on what has already been achieved.

With Champions League football against Atletico Madrid followed by another Premier League match against Fulham, Liverpool’s schedule is becoming more demanding. Isak’s message is simple: the energy from the Ipswich win must be transferred into both upcoming games.
