Wieczysta Krakow rescue point with stoppage-time equaliser after conceding in 87th minute

Christopher Lungoyi and Wieczysta Krakow avoided a late defeat as they scored in the 91st minute to secure a 1-1 draw against Zaglebie in their seventh league match of the season.

The Congolese winger featured in a contest that appeared to be slipping away from Wieczysta Krakow after a tense encounter between the two sides.

Zaglebie finally broke the deadlock in the 87th minute, leaving Lungoyi and his team-mates facing another disappointing result.

But Wieczysta Krakow responded almost immediately.

They found an equaliser four minutes later, taking advantage of a lapse in concentration from their opponents, who were unable to maintain their defensive focus after moving ahead.

The late goal allowed Wieczysta Krakow to leave the match with a point, although the result does little to ease their difficult start to the campaign.

Late goals decide a hard-fought contest

For much of the match, neither side was able to establish a decisive advantage.

Wieczysta Krakow and Zaglebie remained locked together until the closing stages, with both teams having to work hard before the decisive moments finally arrived.

The breakthrough came in the 87th minute when Zaglebie took the lead.

With time running out, Wieczysta Krakow appeared to be heading towards another league defeat.

However, their opponents’ reaction to taking the lead proved costly.

Zaglebie failed to protect their advantage and allowed Wieczysta Krakow an opportunity to respond.

The visitors took advantage in the 91st minute, scoring the equaliser and dramatically changing the outcome of the match.

The late goal ensured the points were shared and prevented another defeat for Lungoyi’s side.

Wieczysta Krakow remain in trouble

Although the draw provides some relief, Wieczysta Krakow remain in a difficult position after a poor opening to the season.

The team had entered the match following two consecutive defeats in the league, while they had also suffered another loss in the Cup.

Their recent run has left them with just one victory since the beginning of the season, highlighting the scale of the challenge facing the newly promoted side.

The lack of victories has also left little room for error as the campaign progresses.

Wieczysta Krakow currently sit 17th and second from bottom of the standings with four points.

The late equaliser against Zaglebie therefore prevented the situation from becoming even more difficult, but the team still need to find a way to turn their form around.

Lungoyi and team-mates face another important test

The result against Zaglebie gives Wieczysta Krakow a point, but their position means further improvement will be required.

With the team having won only once since the start of the season, another poor run could increase the pressure on the newly promoted side.

Lungoyi and his team-mates will now turn their attention to their next league fixture as they look to secure their second victory of the campaign.

Wieczysta Krakow’s next match

Wieczysta Krakow will face Pogon on Sunday, 13 September, with the team aiming to build on the point earned against Zaglebie.

The match represents another opportunity for Lungoyi and his team-mates to improve their position and begin moving away from the bottom of the standings.

For now, the 1-1 draw offers a small boost after a difficult spell, but Wieczysta Krakow remain in need of points as they adjust to life in the Polish top flight.
