Nigeria’s Suleman Sani leaves RB Leipzig for Saudi Arabia without playing a competitive match

Nigerian winger Suleman Sani is set to leave RB Leipzig for Saudi Arabian side Al-Qadsiah without having made a single competitive appearance for the German club, according to reports.

The 20-year-old’s move was reportedly completed on Sunday, the final day of the Saudi Pro League transfer window, with an official announcement expected soon.

RB Leipzig are expected to receive up to eight million euros, including bonuses, for the Nigerian winger, who only joined the Bundesliga side in January.

Saudi move completed on deadline day

According to Sky, Sani’s transfer to Al-Qadsiah was successfully concluded on Sunday before the Saudi Arabian transfer window closed.

The Nigerian is reported to have agreed a three-year contract with the Saudi club, with an option for a further season.

The move brings an early end to Sani’s time at Leipzig, just months after his arrival from Slovakian side AS Trencin.

No competitive appearance for Leipzig

RB Leipzig signed Sani for five million euros in January, identifying the young Nigerian as a promising addition for the future.

However, he failed to make a competitive appearance for the Red Bulls before securing his move away from Germany.

His reported transfer to Al-Qadsiah will now offer the winger an opportunity to begin a new chapter in Saudi Arabia and establish himself at senior club level.

Another African talent heading to Saudi Arabia

Sani’s move continues the growing presence of African footballers in the Saudi Pro League, where clubs have increasingly looked towards the continent for young and established talent.

For the Nigerian winger, the transfer represents a fresh opportunity to continue his development after a short and ultimately inactive spell at one of Germany’s leading clubs.

An official confirmation from both clubs is expected in the coming days.
