Al-Ittihad use pointed social media post to taunt Joao Felix after Al-Nassr win

Al-Ittihad have mocked Al-Nassr forward Joao Felix following their 2-1 victory over their rivals in the latest Saudi Pro League classic.

The result came on Saturday in the final match of round five of the Roshn Saudi League, with Al-Ittihad claiming a notable win despite the difficulties surrounding the club this season.

Felix had made a striking comment to reporters before or after the match, saying: “I will not speak to you, because if I speak, I will expose what is happening in the league.”

Al-Ittihad’s official account on X responded by posting a satirical image aimed at the Portugal international and Al-Nassr manager Ange Postecoglou.

In the graphic, Postecoglou and Felix appear extremely small, while a person in the foreground holds their index finger and thumb close together. The image suggested that, from Al-Ittihad’s perspective, the coach and player were of little significance.

The club accompanied the post with the words: “From Al-Ittihad’s perspective”, followed by: “The dominance continues”.

The message was a clear reference to Al-Ittihad’s success against Al-Nassr in the fixture and added an element of provocation to the aftermath of the match.

Al-Ittihad’s victory was regarded as surprising by some observers because the club have faced a number of problems during the current campaign. Those issues have included the departures of players, administrative difficulties and other challenges away from the pitch.

Despite those circumstances, Al-Ittihad secured all three points and moved to 11 points from their opening five matches. They are now fourth in the table.

Al-Nassr remain second on 12 points, level with Al-Qadsiah and three points behind leaders Al-Hilal, who have collected 15 points.

The defeat therefore prevented Al-Nassr from keeping pace with the league leaders, while Al-Ittihad’s win strengthened their position in the early standings.

For Felix, the defeat was followed by a public response from Al-Ittihad’s social media team, turning his comments to the media into part of the post-match narrative. The club’s image and accompanying message focused on the outcome of the derby and presented Al-Ittihad as the dominant side after their 2-1 success.
