Damien Loppy switches to Leiria as Liga Portugal 2 clubs complete deal

Leiria have secured French-Senegalese winger Damien Loppy from Vizela, adding the 28-year-old left-sided attacker to their Liga Portugal 2 squad.

Loppy joined Leiria on 4 September 2026 and has signed a contract running until 30 June 2028. The move keeps him in Portugal’s second tier after his time with Vizela, who he represented before making the switch to Leiria.

The 1.91m winger is predominantly a left winger and prefers his right foot. He has made two appearances in Liga Portugal 2 during the 2026-27 season, playing 25 minutes, although he has not scored or provided an assist.

Born in Gwediawaye, Loppy holds French and Senegalese nationality. He began his senior career with ESM Gonfreville before joining Le Havre B in July 2017. Six months later, he moved to FC Rouen 1899, beginning a longer association with the club.

Loppy left Rouen for QRM B in July 2018 and subsequently spent time with Grand-Quevilly, returning to FC Rouen in January 2023. He joined Vizela at the beginning of the 2024-25 season on a free transfer, before moving on to Leiria this month.

His arrival gives Leiria another attacking option on the flank as they compete in Liga Portugal 2. Loppy’s previous spell at Vizela means he already has experience of the division and of Portuguese football, while his ability to play on the left provides a clear role within Leiria’s squad.

Leiria have now tied the winger to the club through the end of June 2028, with Loppy’s completed switch from Vizela confirmed on 4 September 2026.
