Hamzad Kargbo leaves Inverness CT after brief Scottish League Cup spell

English and Sierra Leonean centre-forward Hamzad Kargbo has left Inverness CT and joined the ranks of unattached players, ending his short stay with the Scottish Championship club.

The 24-year-old departed on 4 September 2026, two months after moving to Inverness from Maidstone. Kargbo had joined Inverness on 4 July in a free transfer, but his time at the club lasted only until the start of September.

Kargbo made four appearances in the Scottish League Cup during the 2026-27 campaign, playing 75 minutes without scoring. He did not feature in the Scottish Championship before leaving the club.

The 1.98m striker previously spent the latter part of the 2025-26 season with Maidstone, having joined the club as a player without a club on 19 September 2025. That move followed his departure from Newport County at the end of the 2024-25 season.

Kargbo moved to Newport from QPR Under-21s on a free transfer in August 2024. During that campaign, he also spent time on loan at Chippenham, returning to Newport at the end of the temporary spell.

His earlier senior career included loan spells with Southend United and Oxford City while he was registered with Queens Park Under-23s. He came through the QPR Academy before progressing to the club’s Under-18 and Under-23 sides.

A right-footed centre-forward, Kargbo has now left Inverness CT after making four competitive appearances for the club.
