Udinese defender Oumar Solet set to switch allegiance from France to Ivory Coast

Udinese defender Oumar Solet is reportedly set to switch his international allegiance from France to Ivory Coast after deciding to represent the country of his origin at senior level.

The 26-year-old centre-back, who was born in Melun, France, and has represented several French youth teams, could soon receive a call-up to the Ivorian national team.

According to reports, Ivory Coast head coach Hervé Renard is expected to include Solet in his squad for the upcoming international break.

Solet could therefore be part of the Elephants’ squad for the first two matchdays of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, as well as the international friendly against Cameroon scheduled for October 3.

Although the Udinese defender has previously worn the French shirt at youth level, he is reportedly ready to begin a new chapter of his international career with Ivory Coast.

His potential decision comes just days after reports that Manchester United defender Leny Yoro is also set to choose Ivory Coast at senior international level.

If both switches are confirmed, the Elephants would add two promising defensive options with experience in European football as they continue to strengthen their squad ahead of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign.

Solet’s move, however, is yet to be officially confirmed, with his potential inclusion in Renard’s next squad expected to provide further clarity on his international future.
