Hammam Sousse sign Tunisia striker Taieb Ben Zitoun from Azam FC
Taieb Ben Zitoun, the Tunisia centre-forward who was Ligue 1’s top scorer in 2023-24, has joined Hammam Sousse from Azam FC on a free transfer.
The 29-year-old has returned to Tunisia after a spell with Tanzanian club Azam, where he moved in August 2025 following another free transfer from Al-Hilal. Ben Zitoun’s switch to Hammam Sousse was completed on 2 September 2026.
Ben Zitoun has signed a contract running until 30 June 2027 and will play in Ligue 1, the competition in which he claimed the leading goalscorer award for the 2023-24 season after scoring 10 times.
The striker began his senior career with CA Bizertin, progressing from the club’s under-21 side before spending part of the 2018-19 campaign on loan at SA M. Bourguiba. He later returned to CA Bizertin, having also spent a period without a club before joining Budaiya SC in January 2023.
His move to Al-Hilal followed in August 2024, with CA Bizertin receiving a €182,000 fee. After one season there, Ben Zitoun left for Azam without a transfer fee before making his latest return to his home country.
The forward’s record includes 29 Ligue 1 appearances and two goals, alongside eight goals in 15 matches in the Ligue I Pro Playout. He has also scored twice in seven Tunisian Cup appearances and featured in the CAF Champions League.
Hammam Sousse have therefore added a player with experience in domestic competition and African club football as they prepare for Ben Zitoun’s next chapter in Tunisia.
Ben Zitoun’s contract with Hammam Sousse is valid until 30 June 2027.
