Omar Fayed named on Frosinone bench for Coppa Italia clash with Sassuolo

Omar Fayed has been named among the substitutes for Frosinone’s Coppa Italia meeting with Sassuolo on Wednesday, remaining on the bench for the second successive match since joining the Italian club from Fenerbahce.

Frosinone face Sassuolo in the round of 32 of the Coppa Italia, with Fayed included in the squad but not selected in the starting line-up for the knockout tie.

The Egypt defender is still waiting to feature for his new club after completing his move from Fenerbahce only a few days ago. His place among the substitutes against Sassuolo follows his involvement in the matchday squad for Frosinone’s previous game.

Fayed watched from the bench as Frosinone recorded a 3-0 victory over Fiorentina in the second round of Serie A. The result gave the club their first league win after two rounds of the campaign.

Frosinone will return to Serie A action on Sunday, when they face Venezia in the third round. Fayed is expected to remain part of the squad as he continues to settle following his move to Italy.

The 23-year-old joined Frosinone from Fenerbahce on a four-year contract. The transfer was valued at €500,000.

His move brought an end to his time with the Turkish club and began a new chapter in Italy, although he has yet to be selected in Frosinone’s starting XI. The defender’s immediate involvement has so far been limited to a place on the bench, first for the league victory over Fiorentina and now for the Coppa Italia tie with Sassuolo.

Frosinone’s meeting with Sassuolo gives the club an opportunity to progress in the Italian cup, while the fixture also represents another chance for Fayed to be involved with his new team. The Egyptian defender will continue to wait for his first appearance for Frosinone after making the switch from Fenerbahce.

The club’s next scheduled league fixture against Venezia on Sunday will follow their cup match and their 3-0 success against Fiorentina. That victory ensured Frosinone had claimed their first Serie A points after the opening two rounds.
