Morocco star Hakim Ziyech takes legal step in growing Wydad dispute
Moroccan international Hakim Ziyech has taken another step in his increasingly tense dispute with Wydad AC after bringing a judicial bailiff to the club’s Mohamed Benjelloun Complex on Tuesday.
The 33-year-old arrived at the training ground at the scheduled time alongside the bailiff, following instructions from Wydad to remain in Casablanca and complete an individual training programme.
The presence of the bailiff was reportedly intended to formally document Ziyech’s attendance and the arrangements made for his training.
Ziyech excluded from Agadir camp
Ziyech was previously left out of Wydad’s squad for a closed pre-season training camp in Agadir.
Instead, the club instructed the Morocco international to stay in Casablanca and work individually under the supervision of a physical trainer as he continues his preparations for the new season.
However, reports indicate that Ziyech did not find a member of the technical staff available to supervise him during the scheduled sessions.
That prompted the player to bring a bailiff to the training complex to officially record the circumstances surrounding his training programme.
Dispute moves beyond contractual issues
The latest development represents another escalation in the disagreement between Ziyech and Wydad’s management.
What initially centred on reported contractual and financial disagreements has increasingly developed into a dispute involving the club’s technical and administrative decisions concerning the player.
According to Radio Mars, Wydad had sent Ziyech an email instructing him to remain in Casablanca and follow an individual training programme.
The club’s administrative director reportedly told the bailiff that Ziyech’s exclusion from the squad was purely a technical decision taken by the coach. The statement was included in an official report.
Bailiff report could prove significant
The report produced by the bailiff could potentially become part of the documentation used by Ziyech in any future contractual proceedings.
However, no formal legal action has been confirmed at this stage.
With the new season approaching, uncertainty continues to surround Ziyech’s future at Wydad, while both the player and the club are now formally documenting developments surrounding his status.
