Kruger United and Orlando Pirates confirm starting line-ups for Betway Premiership clash

Kruger United and Orlando Pirates have confirmed their starting line-ups for this evening’s Betway Premiership meeting at Mbombela Stadium, with the two sides approaching the match from very different positions in the league.

Newly promoted Kruger United are still searching for their first victory in top-flight football after losing three of their opening four matches and drawing the other. The Village Boys have scored only twice during that run, while conceding seven goals.

Orlando Pirates, by contrast, sit at the top of the league table with 10 points from four matches. The Sea Robbers have also advanced to the MTN8 final for a fifth consecutive time after eliminating Sekhukhune United.

Pirates are among the division’s leading attacking sides, having scored eight goals so far. That total places them joint-second alongside Kaizer Chiefs.

This will be the first senior meeting between Kruger United and Orlando Pirates. Pirates will nevertheless take confidence from their record against newly promoted opposition, having already beaten Milford FC 2-0.

Kruger United have never defeated a top-flight club in their history, adding further significance to their latest challenge against the current league leaders.

Kruger United have selected Ntwari in goal, with Mukumela, Sibiya, Mohamme and Seedat completing the defensive line. Nel and Tavengwa are included in midfield, while Makhubela, Mphothe, Malatjie and Zwane make up the rest of the starting team.

Orlando Pirates will start with Chaine, Sebelebele, Seema, Zulu and Ndaba. Mthiyane and Mokobodi are also named in the line-up, alongside Dansin, Moremi, Lungu and Radiopane.

Orlando Pirates substitutes: Dladla, Xoki, Rapoo, Hotto, Selepe, Masilela, Padime, Appollis and Mbuthuma.

The confirmed selections underline the contrasting form of the two teams before kick-off. Kruger United are looking to convert their first season in the top flight into a campaign that includes a breakthrough victory, while Pirates will aim to maintain their position at the summit and continue their strong momentum in domestic competition.

The match also offers Kruger United an opportunity to claim a significant result against one of South Africa’s leading clubs. For Pirates, victory would strengthen their early-season position after four matches and add to a campaign that has already included another MTN8 final appearance.
