Konyaspor clear the way for Mustafa Mohamed signing as Blaz Kramer joins Celje

Konyaspor have announced the departure of Slovenia striker Blaz Kramer, who has joined Slovenian club Celje, paving the way for the Turkish side to confirm the signing of Egypt international Mustafa Mohamed from Nantes.

The Turkish club made Kramer’s move official on Tuesday and are expected to announce Mohamed’s arrival in the coming hours. The transfer had been dependent on the future of Kramer, whose departure opens a place in Konyaspor’s squad for the former Zamalek striker.

Mohamed has already completed his medical with Konyaspor as the final stages of the move take place. Konyaspor and Nantes have agreed a deal that will see the Egypt forward join the Turkish club on a three-year contract.

The 28-year-old still has one season remaining on his Nantes contract, which is due to expire in the summer of 2027. However, his future at the French club had become uncertain after Nantes were relegated to Ligue 2 last season.

Mohamed missed most of Nantes’ pre-season after stopping training at the start of the campaign. He later resumed work with the club’s reserve team before returning to the first-team setup.

The striker was absent for Nantes’ opening three matches of the season. His proposed move to Konyaspor would now take him back to the Turkish league, where he previously played for Galatasaray.

Mohamed is also set to follow Egypt team-mate Mohamed Salah into Turkish football, after Salah joined Trabzonspor.

Before moving to France, Mohamed spent time with Galatasaray. Nantes signed him from the Turkish club for a reported fee of 6.5m euros.

Since joining Nantes three years ago, Mohamed has made 136 appearances for the club and scored 29 goals. His next chapter is expected to begin with Konyaspor once the Turkish side formally completes the announcement of his transfer.

The move gives Konyaspor an experienced international forward with previous knowledge of Turkish football, while Nantes will lose a player who has been a regular contributor since arriving from Galatasaray. Celje, meanwhile, have secured Kramer as the Slovenian striker leaves the club at the centre of the negotiations surrounding Mohamed’s transfer.
