PSG academy forward Ibrahim Mbaye joins Aston Villa on long-term contract

Ibrahim Mbaye has officially completed his move from Paris Saint-Germain to Aston Villa, signing a five-year contract with the Premier League club that includes the option of a further 12 months.

The agreement was confirmed by Aston Villa on Tuesday, bringing an end to the 18-year-old forward’s eight-year association with PSG. The transfer represents another significant sale for the French champions during the summer transfer window, with the two clubs agreeing a fee of €55m, plus a potential €5m in bonuses.

PSG will also receive €1m in training compensation and is guaranteed a further €4m if Mbaye is sold by Aston Villa in the future. The arrangement gives the Parisian club a substantial financial return on a player who came through its academy.

Mbaye was regularly called upon by PSG manager Luis Enrique last season, making 24 Ligue 1 appearances. His involvement was more limited in the Champions League, where he played four times.

The Senegal international leaves the club having won eight trophies during his time in Paris. He made 44 appearances for PSG’s first team, scoring four goals and providing four assists.

Mbaye’s current market value is listed at €30m by Transfermarkt. While playing in France, he reportedly earned €910,000 a year, equivalent to 591,500,000 CFA francs.

His departure continues PSG’s movement in the transfer market after several players have already left the squad during the summer. Aston Villa, meanwhile, have secured one of the most notable young attacking additions involved in the deal.

The Birmingham club are due to play Hull City in their next match, which will be their third game of the English championship campaign. Betting odds published by 1xBet list Aston Villa as favourites at 1.83, with a draw priced at 3.70 and a Hull City victory at 4.00.

Mbaye’s move was finalised before that fixture, although the transfer announcement did not state whether he would be involved in the match. His contract length means Aston Villa have committed to the teenager’s development over the next five seasons, with the possibility of extending the agreement for an additional year.
