Bertrand Traore waits on 2026-27 destination after Sunderland exit

Bertrand Traore remains without a club as the summer transfer window reaches its closing stages in Europe’s major leagues, with the Burkina Faso captain yet to announce where he will play next season.

The forward’s contract with Sunderland expired in June, leaving him as a free agent ahead of the 2026-27 campaign. Despite interest from several clubs, no move has been officially confirmed before the deadline.

Traore has been linked with a number of possible destinations in recent weeks. Watford and FC Nordsjælland have both been mentioned as potential options, while Ajax Amsterdam have also been reported to be monitoring the situation.

A return to Ajax would represent a familiar route for Traore. The Burkina Faso international has already played for the Dutch club on two separate occasions during his career, making the latest speculation notable because of that previous association.

Interest has also emerged from Saudi Arabian clubs, adding further possibilities to a growing list of reported destinations. However, none of those options has resulted in an announced agreement.

More recently, a rumour emerged suggesting Traore could move to Juventus. That report has not been confirmed, and the Italian club has not been officially established as his next destination.

With only hours remaining before the transfer window closes, Traore is still waiting to reveal his plans for the new season. His departure from Sunderland has been confirmed by the expiry of his contract, but the next stage of his career remains unresolved.

The uncertainty means the captain of the Etalons enters the final part of the market without a club, despite having been connected with teams in England, the Netherlands, Denmark, Saudi Arabia and Italy.

For now, Watford, FC Nordsjælland, Ajax Amsterdam, Saudi Arabian clubs and Juventus remain names associated with the player through transfer reports rather than confirmed developments. Traore’s next destination will therefore have to be announced separately, with no official decision made at the time of writing.

The Burkina Faso international has yet to make public where he will continue his career in 2026-27.
