Algeria forward Mohammed Amoura joins OGC Nice on loan from Wolfsburg

Algerian international forward Mohammed Amoura has completed a move to Ligue 1 side OGC Nice from Wolfsburg on a season-long loan.

The 26-year-old centre-forward will spend the 2026/27 campaign in France after Nice reached an agreement with Wolfsburg that includes an option to make the transfer permanent at the end of the loan spell.

Amoura arrives in Nice with the club viewing him as an important addition to their attacking options. His pace, movement and ability to contribute in front of goal are expected to provide Nice with another attacking dimension as they prepare for the new Ligue 1 campaign.

The Algerian enjoyed a productive spell in Germany last season, scoring eight goals and registering three assists for Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga. His performances have now earned him an opportunity to continue his career in France and compete in one of Europe’s top domestic leagues.

Amoura is also familiar with French football and believes his knowledge of Ligue 1 will help him settle quickly at his new club.

Speaking after completing the move, the Algeria international expressed his excitement about joining Nice and highlighted the club’s ambitions and passionate supporters.

“I know Ligue 1 well and I know OGC Nice well. I have loads of friends who have played here. I know last season wasn’t easy, but I also know there are always big ambitions,” Amoura said.

“I liked what the club officials and the manager had to say. I know the fans are passionate, and I like that too. I hope we’ll have a good season.”

Amoura will now look to make an immediate impact in France as Nice aim to improve on their previous campaign and compete strongly in Ligue 1.

For Wolfsburg, the loan arrangement gives the forward an opportunity to gain further experience in a different league, while the option to buy provides Nice with the possibility of securing his services permanently should he impress during the season.

The Algerian will be hoping to carry his goalscoring form from Germany into France and establish himself as a key attacking figure for Nice.
