Mostafa Mohamed completes medical ahead of Konyaspor move from Nantes

Mostafa Mohamed has completed his medical with Konyaspor as he moves closer to completing a transfer to the Turkish club from Nantes.

The Egypt international, who plays as a striker for Nantes, arrived in the Turkish city of Konya in the early hours of Sunday to finalise the switch.

He underwent the second part of his medical examination in recent hours and passed the tests without any problems. He has received final approval to join Konyaspor, with the club expected to announce the deal officially within hours.

Mohamed spoke briefly to reporters at the airport after arriving in Turkey.

“I’m not going to say anything now. I’ll respond on the pitch,” he said.

He added: “I feel very comfortable. Konyaspor are a big team. I want to do my absolute best for this club. That’s all.”

According to Turkish broadcaster HT, Konyaspor have agreed to sign Mohamed from Nantes for a fee of 750,000 euros, to be paid in three instalments.

The striker is expected to join the squad after the departure of Konyaspor forward Blaz Kramer.

Mohamed still has one season remaining on his Nantes contract, which runs until the summer of 2027. Nantes were relegated to France’s second tier last season.

The 28-year-old missed most of Nantes’ pre-season after stopping training at the start of the campaign. He later returned to work with the club’s reserve team and was absent for Nantes’ first three matches of the season.

A move to Konyaspor would see Mohamed return to the Turkish league, where he previously played for Galatasaray. He would also follow fellow Egypt international Mohamed Salah into the division, after Salah joined Trabzonspor.

Mohamed began his professional career with Zamalek before moving to Galatasaray. Nantes subsequently signed him from the Turkish club for 6.5m euros.

He has made 136 appearances for Nantes since joining them three years ago, scoring 29 goals.

Konyaspor are now set to complete the formalities of the transfer, with the announcement expected shortly after the Egyptian striker’s medical clearance.
