Nice win race for Algeria forward Mohamed Amoura as Wolfsburg loan agreement is reached

Mohamed Amoura has chosen OGC Nice as his next club, with the Ligue 1 side reaching a full agreement with VfL Wolfsburg over a loan move for the Algeria international.

The 26-year-old forward had attracted considerable interest during the summer transfer window, but has opted for Nice ahead of alternatives including Olympique Lyonnais and Qatar-based Al Sadd. The decision leaves Amoura one step away from beginning a new chapter in France.

Foot Mercato reports that all terms have been agreed between Nice and Wolfsburg for the temporary transfer. The French club emerged as the preferred destination after the race intensified in recent days, with several other sides also involved.

Al Ittihad was among the clubs to show interest, a development previously reported exclusively by Africafoot. Despite that competition, Nice have now moved into pole position for the Algerian attacker.

Amoura’s move to France would follow a successful spell in Belgium with Union Saint-Gilloise, where he made a particularly strong impression. His performances there earned him a transfer to Wolfsburg, although his time in Germany has since been affected by the club’s relegation to the second division.

That drop has helped make a temporary departure possible, with Wolfsburg prepared to allow the player to continue his development elsewhere. The proposed loan would give Amoura the opportunity to remain at the highest level while Nice add another attacking option to their squad.

Before the move can be completed, Amoura must undergo a medical examination. Assuming there are no complications, Nice are expected to confirm his arrival shortly.

The club’s supporters will hope the forward can bring pace, direct running and attacking intensity to the team. Amoura is viewed as a player capable of unsettling defences and adding greater explosiveness to Nice’s forward line.

He remains under contract with VfL Wolfsburg until June 2029 and is valued at 20 million euros. His reported annual salary is 4,720,000 euros, equivalent to 3,068,000,000 FCFA.

Nice’s next fixture is scheduled to be their third-round French league match against Le Mans FC. The match will provide the club with another opportunity to assess its attacking options, although Amoura’s participation would depend on the completion of his medical and the formal registration of the loan.

The betting company 1xbet lists OGC Nice as favourites for the fixture, with the club priced at 1.69 to win. A draw is rated at 3.70, while a victory for Le Mans FC is given odds of 4.40.
