Morocco international Zakaria El Ouahidi in talks over Hamburg move

Morocco international Zakaria El Ouahidi is being targeted by German club Hamburg as the Bundesliga side looks to strengthen at right-back before the new season.

Hamburger SV have opened negotiations with Belgian club Genk over a possible deal for the Moroccan defender, according to a report by Apress.

Hamburg are considering El Ouahidi alongside Bayer Leverkusen player Arthur as they search for reinforcements in the position.

As of Sunday morning, Hamburg had yet to reach an agreement with Leverkusen for Arthur, while discussions over both players continued.

Hamburg weighing two options

The German club is understood to be pursuing both options simultaneously as it attempts to secure a new right-back.

El Ouahidi’s experience at international level has made him an attractive option, with Hamburg now in talks with Genk over a potential transfer.

A decision could depend on which negotiations progress further as the German side seeks to complete a signing before the transfer window closes.

Moroccan defender attracting European interest

El Ouahidi has emerged as a player in demand during the current transfer window.

The Morocco international was previously linked with a move to Italian giants AC Milan earlier this month.

Dutch club PSV Eindhoven have also been credited with an interest in the defender, adding to the growing competition for his signature.

A move to Hamburg would represent another step in El Ouahidi’s European career and could provide the Moroccan international with an opportunity to continue his development in Germany.

For now, negotiations with Genk remain ongoing, with Hamburg yet to finalise a deal for either El Ouahidi or Arthur.
