Real Betis submit offer for Morocco U20 forward Hamza Raji

Spanish club Real Betis have submitted an official offer for Morocco U20 forward Hamza Raji, with negotiations now ongoing with his club Renaissance Berkane.

The 18-year-old has attracted interest from the Spanish side after impressing for Morocco’s youth teams and Renaissance Berkane, with his performances at the Mediterranean Games further strengthening his reputation.

Moroccan sports outlet Elbotola reports that Betis have formally approached Renaissance Berkane over a possible transfer.

However, no agreement has yet been reached, with the two clubs continuing discussions over a potential deal.

The coming days could prove important as the Andalusian club attempts to secure one of Morocco’s emerging attacking talents.

Raji’s rapid rise attracts European attention

Raji’s development has been closely followed since he joined Renaissance Berkane in July 2024 after beginning his football education at the Raja Casablanca academy.

The Casablanca-born forward has progressed through Berkane’s youth system and made appearances for the senior team during the 2025-26 season.

His ability to operate as a centre-forward or on the right wing has added to his appeal as European clubs monitor Morocco’s emerging generation.

Morocco U20 success raises his profile

Raji has also established himself with the Morocco U20 national team, making his debut at that level in August 2025.

He has recorded five appearances and three goals for the youth side, according to Africafoot.

One of his standout performances came at the COTIF international tournament in Spain, where he finished as the leading scorer and helped Morocco U20 win the competition.

He was subsequently selected for Morocco’s squad at the 2026 Mediterranean Games in Italy, providing another opportunity to showcase his ability on the international stage.

Betis see potential in Moroccan forward

Raji’s performances for Morocco and Renaissance Berkane have now brought him onto the radar of European clubs, with Real Betis taking the step of submitting an official offer.

For the young forward, a move to Spain would represent a significant step in his development and another example of the growing interest in Morocco’s young footballers.
