Kaizer Chiefs have named Rushwin Dortley in their travelling squad for Saturday’s CAF Confederation Cup second-round, first-leg match against Red Arrows in Zambia.
The match will take place at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola at 15:00 local time, as Amakhosi begin their campaign in the competition.
Kaizer Chiefs are competing in the CAF Confederation Cup for a second consecutive season. They were eliminated during the group stage last term and will be aiming to make further progress this time around.
Dortley is included despite not having played football throughout the whole of last season because of injury. The left-sided centre-back is yet to make an appearance for Kaizer Chiefs during the current campaign.
The squad also features national under-20 goalkeeper Takalani Mazhamba. He is listed as the third-choice goalkeeper behind Ronaldo Leaner and Bruce Bvuma.
The trip comes after an inconsistent start to the season, increasing the pressure on the Kaizer Chiefs squad. A strong run in the Confederation Cup would help rebuild supporters’ belief that the club can challenge for a title on the continent.
