Mustafa Mohamed set to join Konyaspor after arriving in Turkey

Egypt striker Mustafa Mohamed has arrived in Konya ahead of completing his move from French club Nantes to Turkish side Konyaspor.

The 27-year-old landed in the Turkish city in the early hours of Sunday and told reporters at the airport that he would let his performances do the talking.

“I will not say anything now. I will respond on the pitch,” said Mustafa Mohamed.

He added: “I feel very comfortable. Konyaspor are a big team. I want to give my best for this club. That is all.”

The Egypt international is now waiting for the official announcement of his transfer, with Konyaspor having reached an agreement to sign him from Nantes for a fee of 750,000 euros, according to Turkish broadcaster HT.

The fee is due to be paid in three instalments.

Mustafa Mohamed has already completed his medical examination without any problems and received final approval for the move. He is expected to join Konyaspor after the departure of the club’s striker Blaz Kramer.

The forward has one year remaining on his Nantes contract, which expires in the summer of 2027. Nantes were relegated to the French second division last season.

Mustafa Mohamed missed most of Nantes’ pre-season preparations after stopping training at the beginning of the campaign. He later returned to work with the club’s reserve team and was absent from Nantes’ first three matches of the season.

His move to Konyaspor will take him back to the Turkish league, where he previously played for Galatasaray. He will also join Mohamed Salah, who moved to Trabzonspor, according to the source article.

Mustafa Mohamed began his professional career with Zamalek before moving to Galatasaray. Nantes subsequently signed him from the Turkish club for 6.5m euros.

He has made 136 appearances for Nantes since joining the club three years ago, scoring 29 goals.

Konyaspor’s agreement with Nantes brings the Egypt international closer to the next stage of his career after a difficult period at the French club. His limited involvement during pre-season and the opening matches of the campaign had left his immediate future uncertain, but his arrival in Konya indicates that the transfer is now close to completion.

The striker’s first comments after reaching Turkey focused on his desire to prove himself through his football rather than discuss the move in detail. With the formal announcement still to come, Konyaspor are preparing to add an experienced international forward to their squad while Mustafa Mohamed looks to revive his form in the Turkish league.
