Ibrahim Sissoko joins Muglaspor after difficult Bochum spell

Malian international Ibrahim Sissoko has left VfL Bochum to join Turkish second-tier club Muglaspor on a contract running until June 2028.

The 30-year-old striker brings an end to a difficult period in Germany, where injuries restricted his opportunities and prevented him from establishing himself at Bochum.

Sissoko’s move to Turkey was completed without a transfer fee, with Bochum deciding to part ways with the forward after a short and frustrating spell at the club.

The Franco-Malian striker struggled for regular involvement during his time in Germany. Problems involving his patellar tendon and ankle significantly affected his availability and limited his opportunities to make an impact.

He made only six appearances for Bochum, scoring one goal.

The German club had been looking to move the player on, and an agreement was eventually reached to allow him to continue his career in Turkey.

For Sissoko, the transfer represents an opportunity to put his difficult time at Bochum behind him and begin another chapter in his career.

His arrival at Muglaspor has already generated a very different reaction from the one that accompanied his departure from Germany.

The striker has also gained international experience with Mali, having represented the national team on eight occasions.
