Orlando Pirates name starting XI for decisive MTN8 semi-final against Sekhukhune United

Orlando Pirates have named their starting XI for the decisive MTN8 semi-final against Sekhukhune United at Orlando Amstel Arena on Saturday afternoon.

The Soweto giants take a 1-0 advantage into the second leg after winning in Polokwane last weekend. They also defeated Sekhukhune United 2-0 in a league meeting at Orlando on Tuesday night, making this the third time the sides have faced one another in the space of seven days.

Sekhukhune United must win to reach the MTN8 final, while Orlando Pirates will advance if they avoid defeat in the semi-final return fixture.

The visitors will also be without head coach Cedric Kaze on the touchline after he was sent off during Tuesday’s league defeat.

Orlando Pirates have selected 24. Chaine in goal, with 36. Sebelebele, 6. Seema, 37. Zulu and 3. Ndaba forming the defensive line.

Their midfield includes 20. Selepe, 29. Mthiyane and 33. Mokobodi, while 23. Lungu, 12. Appollis and 9. Mbuthuma will lead the attack.

Sekhukhune United will start with 16. Nsabata in goal. Their defence comprises 36. Ndlozi, 28. Matsimbi, 4. Cardoso, 29. Kazeem and 33. Khupe.

Pirates’ victory in the opening leg gave them the advantage in the tie, and their second win over Sekhukhune in four days has increased the pressure on the visitors ahead of the decisive encounter.

Sekhukhune United now need to overturn the deficit at Orlando Amstel Arena if they are to secure a place in the final. Their task is made more difficult by the absence of Kaze, who will be unable to guide the team from the technical area after his dismissal.

The MTN8 semi-final takes place on 29 August 2026.
