Nice beat Lyon, Rennes and Udinese to seal Mohamed Amoura swoop

OGC Nice are closing in on a deal to sign Algeria international winger Mohamed Amoura from VfL Wolfsburg, with the Ligue 1 club reportedly beating several rivals to his signature.

According to French outlet L’Equipe, Nice and Wolfsburg are nearing an agreement for the 26-year-old to join on loan, with the proposed deal including a €20 million option to make the transfer permanent.

An agreement is expected to be reached on Saturday, after which Amoura would travel for his medical ahead of completing the move to the INEOS-owned French club.

The reported agreement represents a significant step in Nice’s efforts to strengthen their attacking options, with Amoura set to add pace, versatility and goals to Olivier Pantaloni’s squad.

Nice win four-way race

L’Equipe reports that Nice have emerged ahead of Lyon, Rennes and Udinese in the competition for Amoura, securing a deal for the Algeria international after attracting strong interest from the three clubs.

Amoura is expected to complement Eintracht Frankfurt loanee Elye Wahi in Pantaloni’s attacking set-up as Nice look to add greater firepower to their frontline.

The winger has already established himself as a proven attacking threat, particularly following his breakthrough campaign with Union Royale Saint-Gilloise two years ago.

Amoura enjoyed an impressive spell with the Belgian side, scoring 22 goals in 45 appearances and drawing attention from clubs across Europe.

Wolfsburg exit looms

His anticipated departure from Wolfsburg would see Amoura return to Ligue 1, with Nice now seemingly in pole position to secure his services.

The reported €20m purchase option would also give the French club the opportunity to make his stay permanent if he impresses during his loan spell.

Nice will meanwhile turn their attention to their Ligue 1 campaign, with Pantaloni’s side scheduled to travel to face Paris FC on Sunday.

Should the deal be completed as expected, Amoura could soon become another major attacking option for Nice as they seek to make their mark in the new season.
