Brentford complete five-year deal for Senegal defender El Hadji Malick Diouf

Brentford have officially signed Senegal international El Hadji Malick Diouf from West Ham on a five-year contract, with the agreement including an option for a further season.

The left-back will remain in the Premier League after completing a move to the London club. The overall value of the deal is close to €46m, made up of €41m guaranteed to West Ham and a further €5m in potential bonuses.

Diouf joins Brentford after an impressive campaign in which he registered five assists in 32 appearances. His performances have helped him remain at the highest level of English football, while the size of the transfer places him among the most expensive Senegalese players in history.

The move represents another significant step in a rapid rise through European football for the international defender. Diouf began his development in Senegal at the Galaxy Football Academy before continuing at the Academie Mawade Wade.

He subsequently made his breakthrough at Tromsø in Norway, where he attracted attention before moving on to Slavia Prague. With the Czech club, he won the Czech championship and further established himself as one of Senegal’s leading young defenders.

Diouf’s market valuation was listed at €28m during his time with West Ham. His annual salary at the Hammers was €2,060,924, equivalent to 1,352,762,822 FCFA.

His arrival comes as Brentford prepare for their second match of the English championship season, when they are due to face Leeds United. The match is set to be Diouf’s next opportunity to begin his new chapter with the Bees, following his switch from West Ham.
