Inter discover Champions League league-phase schedule, including Real Madrid away trip

Inter will begin their 2026-27 UEFA Champions League league-phase campaign with eight fixtures, including a home meeting with Liverpool and an away game against Real Madrid.

The Italian club, runners-up in the 2025 final, will play four matches at San Siro and four away from home after being drawn against two opponents from each of the competition’s four seeding pots.

Inter’s scheduled league-phase opponents are:

– Liverpool (home) – Real Madrid (away) – Club Brugge (home) – Borussia Dortmund (away) – Shakhtar Donetsk (home) – Feyenoord (away) – VfB Stuttgart (home) – Slovan Bratislava (away)

The meeting with Real Madrid will be one of the most notable games in Inter’s schedule. The two clubs have faced each other 19 times previously, with their first encounter ending in a 3-1 victory for the Italian side in the final of the 1964 edition.

The fixture will also reunite Real Madrid with Jose Mourinho, who previously managed Inter and has returned to lead the Spanish club this season.

Inter will enter the campaign under Cristian Chivu after he guided the club to the domestic double last season. The Romanian manager will oversee the club’s attempt to progress through the expanded league phase and challenge against a wide range of European opposition.

The league-phase format requires each team to face eight different opponents, with two matches drawn from each of the four seeding pots. Every club plays half of its fixtures at home and the other half away.

Inter’s home schedule includes Liverpool, Club Brugge, Shakhtar Donetsk and VfB Stuttgart. Their away matches will take them to Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, Feyenoord and Slovan Bratislava.

The dates and kick-off times for the individual matches are expected to be confirmed on Saturday, 29 August.

The league phase is scheduled to start on 8 September and will conclude on 27 January 2027. At that point, Inter’s results across all eight matches will determine their position in the overall league table and their route into the next stage of the competition.
