German-Ghanaian defender Joshua Quarshie, currently with Southampton, has been linked with a move to Sturm Graz in Austria’s Bundesliga.

Quarshie, 22, joined Southampton from Hoffenheim on 1 July 2025 in a reported €3.5m transfer and has a contract with the Championship club until 30 June 2029.

The 1.96m centre-back has yet to feature for Southampton this season, with the club having played two Championship matches and two EFL Cup games. He was not included in the starting line-up or match minutes recorded for either competition.

A move to Sturm Graz would represent a return to the German-speaking football market for Quarshie, who developed in Germany and previously spent time on loan with Fortuna Dusseldorf and Greuther Furth during his time at Hoffenheim. He joined Southampton after making his senior progression at the Bundesliga club.

Southampton’s decision to sign Quarshie last summer came after his market value had risen to €3m, while it is currently listed at €4m. The reported interest comes less than two months after his arrival at St Mary’s, with his long-term contract potentially a key factor in any discussions.

Quarshie’s current status remains unchanged: he is a Southampton player under contract through June 2029, while Sturm Graz’s reported interest has not yet resulted in a confirmed transfer.
