Keagan Dolly closing in on move to newly promoted Hope FC

Newly promoted Motsepe Foundation Championship club Hope FC have confirmed the signing of Taahir Goedeman and are now working towards making Keagan Dolly their next marquee arrival.

The club’s move for Goedeman follows an extended assessment period, with the player given the opportunity to prove himself before an agreement was completed. The announcement comes shortly after Hope FC recorded their first league victory of the season.

Goedeman, known as ‘Bala’, spent the previous campaign on loan at Durban City. However, he struggled for regular playing time during his spell with the KwaZulu-Natal-based club.

His parent club, Cape Town City, released him at the end of the 2025/26 season. That left Goedeman without a club and allowed Hope FC to assess him before deciding to offer him a contract.

The Immortals are also understood to be close to agreeing a deal with Dolly. The former South African international has been training and undergoing assessment at Hope FC in recent weeks, with the club hoping to complete negotiations in the coming days.

Any move remains dependent on the outcome of that assessment and the two parties reaching an agreement over the terms of the deal. Dolly’s potential arrival would represent another significant addition for a club seeking to establish itself after promotion to the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

Like Goedeman, Dolly has been evaluated by Hope FC before the club makes a final decision. The midfielder is a 2016 CAF Champions League winner, and his experience would add further pedigree to a squad that has already been reshaped during the current campaign.

Hope FC have previously brought in Miguel Timm and Lyle Lakay as part of their recruitment drive. The club have also strengthened their squad through loan agreements involving Kaizer Chiefs youngsters Samkelo Zwane, Naledi Hlongwane, Bontle Molefe and Pheko Phago.

The signings form part of a broader effort by the newly promoted side to build a competitive team for life in the Motsepe Foundation Championship. Their early-season victory has provided an encouraging start, while the possible addition of Dolly would give the club another high-profile option as they continue to develop their squad.
