Hamburg consider move for Genk’s Morocco-Belgium defender Zakaria El Ouahdi

Zakaria El Ouahdi, the Morocco-Belgium right-back at Genk, is being linked with a move to Hamburg in the Bundesliga.

The 24-year-old has started all three of Genk’s Jupiler Pro League matches this season, completing 93% of the available minutes. He has not scored or recorded an assist in those appearances.

A potential transfer to Hamburg is currently assessed at 30%, with El Ouahdi’s market value listed at €17m. Genk remain under no immediate pressure to sell, with the defender’s contract running until 30 June 2028.

El Ouahdi joined Genk from RWD Molenbeek in September 2023 in a deal worth €2.5m. He had helped Molenbeek secure promotion to Belgium’s top flight during the 2022-23 season before making the move.

The right-back has also represented Morocco, featuring at the 2026 World Cup, and was part of the Morocco Olympic team that won bronze at the 2024 Games. He previously won the Under-23 Africa Cup of Nations with Morocco in 2023.

Hamburg’s interest would represent a possible move from Belgium’s top division to Germany’s Bundesliga, but there is no indication that an agreement has been reached. El Ouahdi currently remains a regular starter for Genk and is tied to the club for another two seasons beyond the current campaign.
