Zamalek given 10 days to submit evidence in Zizo dispute with Egyptian FA

Zamalek have been given 10 days by the Egyptian Football Association’s Appeals Committee to submit documents supporting the club’s challenge against a decision involving former player Ahmed Sayed “Zizo”.

A source at Zamalek told FilGoal.com that the club had received a new letter from the Egyptian Football Association concerning the dispute with Zizo, who now plays for Al Ahly.

“The Appeals Committee at the Egyptian Football Association has granted Zamalek 10 days to submit the documents supporting what was included in the club’s grievance against the decision of the Players’ Affairs Committee regarding former player Ahmed Sayed Zizo,” the source said.

“Zamalek are ready with the documents proving the validity of the grievance they submitted. They will present them to the Grievances Committee of the Egyptian Football Association within the specified deadline and are always prepared to deal with all the requirements of this case.”

The dispute stems from separate complaints submitted by Zamalek and Zizo, with both sides claiming they are entitled to receive outstanding payments from the other.

The Players’ Affairs Committee previously notified both parties that their complaints had been dismissed or closed.

Zizo had lodged a complaint with the Egyptian Football Association seeking unpaid financial dues from Zamalek. The club subsequently filed its own complaint against the player, accusing him of failing to attend team training during the final period of his time at the Cairo-based club.

The latest letter gives Zamalek a formal deadline to provide the evidence it believes supports its case. The club is expected to submit the relevant documents to the association’s Grievances Committee before the 10-day period expires.

Zizo’s departure from Zamalek followed the end of his contract, and he joined Al Ahly on a free transfer. The source article also states that he moved to Al Ahly at the beginning of last season, while separately describing his departure from Zamalek as coming at the end of the season before last.

The case is therefore focused on financial claims by both the player and his former club, as well as Zamalek’s allegation that Zizo stopped attending training before leaving. The initial complaints were not upheld by the Players’ Affairs Committee, prompting Zamalek to challenge that outcome through the Egyptian Football Association’s appeal process.

No final ruling from the Appeals Committee has been reported. The next stage will be the submission and examination of the documents requested from Zamalek.
