Mohamed Salah wins award in Turkey

Egyptian international Mohamed Salah has won his first individual award since joining Trabzonspor this summer.

The former Liverpool star joined the Turkish club on a free transfer and signed a two-year contract after ending his previous chapter. He has quickly made an impact and is already being recognised for his performances.

Salah was named the winner of the Best Goal of the Second Round in the Turkish Super League after scoring a stunning goal against Istanbul Basaksehir on Sunday, August 23.

The Egyptian forward was instrumental in Trabzonspor’s 2-1 victory, scoring both goals to secure all three points for his new club.

The Turkish Super League Association confirmed that Salah’s second goal against Basaksehir was voted the best goal of the second round of the competition.

The award comes after an impressive start to life in Turkey, with Salah showing his goalscoring quality and immediately becoming one of Trabzonspor’s most important players.

The former Liverpool star will now turn his attention to European competition as Trabzonspor prepare to face Ferencvaros in the second leg of their Europa League playoff tie.

Trabzonspor have a deficit to overturn after losing the first leg 1-0 in Hungary last week.

Salah will be hoping to produce another decisive performance and help his new club secure a place in the Europa League group stage.

The Egyptian star is aiming to replicate the success he enjoyed during his time at Liverpool, and winning his first individual award with Trabzonspor could be an early indication of what he can offer the Turkish side.
