Ghana international Kwasi Sibo has bid farewell to Real Oviedo after bringing his two-year spell with the Spanish club to an end and completing a permanent move to Libyan top-flight side Al-Swehly.

Sibo, 28, took to Instagram to thank Oviedo as he begins a new chapter in his career following the expiration of his contract with the Spanish club.

“I can’t unlock a new chapter in my career without leaving a message to Mi Puta Casa. Always Oviedo!!!” he wrote.

The midfielder leaves Oviedo after helping the club reach La Liga before his contract expired at the end of the 2025/26 campaign. The club subsequently decided against extending his deal.

Sibo has now joined Al-Swehly as a free agent on a three-year contract, with an option to extend the agreement for another year.

His move to Libya follows the collapse of a proposed transfer to the Turkish top flight. The Ghanaian reportedly also turned down offers from clubs in France and Major League Soccer before agreeing to join Al-Swehly.

Reports have claimed the deal could be worth $10 million, with the financial package reportedly connected to a broader government-backed initiative aimed at attracting more African talent to the Libyan league.

Sibo returned to Ghana on Tuesday after travelling to Cairo to complete the formalities of his move.

The Black Stars midfielder was part of Ghana’s squad at the 2026 FIFA World Cup and started all three of the team’s matches during the tournament in North America.
