Liverpool make enquiry to sign Senegal and Crystal Palace forward Ismaïla Sarr

Liverpool have opened talks over a potential move for Crystal Palace and Senegal winger Ismaïla Sarr as the Premier League champions look to strengthen their attacking options before the transfer window shuts.

The Premier League giants has turned attention to the Senegalese attacker after their pursuit of Brighton and Hove Albion winger Yankuba Minteh hit a snag over huge demands.

Liverpool are understood to have made a proposal worth around £50 million for the Senegal international.

The move would represent a major late-window development for Liverpool, who are keen to add another winger to their squad and have reportedly made Sarr one of their priorities.

Sarr is said to be keen on the possibility of moving to Anfield, potentially giving Liverpool encouragement that a deal can be negotiated despite Crystal Palace’s strong position.

The 27-year-old has become an increasingly important player for Palace since arriving from Marseille in the summer of 2024. His performances last season, in particular, significantly raised his profile and attracted interest from clubs across Europe.

Sarr enjoyed a highly productive campaign, making 45 appearances across all competitions and contributing 21 goals and two assists.

His form has made him an attractive proposition for Liverpool as they search for additional attacking quality.

The Senegalese winger offers pace, directness and versatility in the final third, while his ability to play from either flank gives Liverpool another option in their attacking rotation.

Galatasaray have been pursuing Sarr for some time and have already made two approaches for the Senegal international.

Both bids have reportedly been rejected by Crystal Palace, leaving the Turkish club facing an uphill battle to reach an agreement with the Premier League side.

The Senegal international is capable of operating as a wide forward while also contributing centrally when required, giving Liverpool greater tactical flexibility.

Palace will ultimately have to decide whether the reported £50 million valuation is sufficient to part ways with one of their key attacking players or whether they will continue to resist interest and keep Sarr at Selhurst Park.

While Palace remain under no obligation to sell, a player’s preference can often influence the direction of a transfer, particularly when multiple clubs are competing for his signature.

For Sarr, a move to Liverpool would represent another major step in his career.

The Senegal international has already played in France, England and Spain and has established himself as a proven top-level attacker. Joining Liverpool would give him the opportunity to compete for major trophies and play regularly at one of Europe’s biggest clubs.
