Mostafa Mohamed close to Nantes exit with Konyaspor move reportedly worth €1m

Mostafa Mohamed is close to leaving Nantes for Turkish club Konyaspor, according to French newspaper L’Equipe, with the proposed summer transfer understood to be worth about €1m.

The Egypt international has one year remaining on his Nantes contract, which is due to expire in the summer of 2027. However, the French club are reportedly prepared to part with the striker as they look to reshape their squad following relegation to the second tier of French football last season.

Mohamed has been linked with a return to Turkey, where he previously played for Galatasaray. Nantes signed him from Galatasaray for €6.5m, and the 27-year-old has made 136 appearances for the club since moving to France three years ago. He has scored 29 goals during that time.

The forward’s future at Nantes has become increasingly uncertain after he missed most of the club’s pre-season preparations. He initially stopped attending training at the beginning of the campaign before returning to work with the reserve team.

Mohamed was then left out of Nantes’ first three matches of the season, all of which ended in defeat. The club dismissed their manager after those opening three games because of the poor results.

A move to Konyaspor would take Mohamed back to the Turkish league, where he made his name after joining Galatasaray. The proposed fee is reported to be close to €1m, significantly below the €6.5m Nantes paid to secure his services.

The report also says Mohamed could be joined in the Turkish top flight by Egypt team-mate Mohamed Salah, who it states has moved to Trabzonspor. That would give the league two prominent Egyptian forwards, although Mohamed’s possible switch to Konyaspor remains the immediate development surrounding the Nantes striker.

Mohamed’s spell with Nantes has produced 29 goals in 136 games since his arrival from Galatasaray. His next move now appears likely to be determined by negotiations over the reported transfer to Konyaspor, with the French club facing a season in the second tier after their relegation.

Konyaspor are seeking to complete the deal for a fee of approximately €1m, while Mohamed would return to a competition he already knows from his previous time with Galatasaray. If the move is completed, it would bring an end to his three-year stay at Nantes before the final year of his contract.
