Java United add Senegalese-French midfielder Christian Gomis in Indonesia move

Senegalese-French defensive midfielder Christian Gomis has joined Java United FC from Thailand’s Uthai Thani on a free transfer.

The 28-year-old completed the move on 26 August 2026 and becomes a new addition to Java United’s midfield for their campaign in Indonesia’s Super League. Gomis, who was born in Dakar, is described as a defensive midfielder and is left-footed.

Gomis arrives after one season with Uthai Thani, having joined the Thai club from BG Pathum United in July 2025, also on a free transfer. He made 57 appearances in the Thai League during his career, scoring two goals and providing two assists.

His move to Java United continues a career that has taken him across several European and Asian leagues. Before moving to Thailand, Gomis played in Hungary for Mezokovesd and Honved, while he also spent time in Bulgaria with Loko Plovdiv.

Gomis began his senior career in France after coming through the Paris Saint-Germain Under-19 system. He later played for Pacy Menilles, Cordenons and EF Bastia before leaving France for Bulgaria in 2020.

The midfielder made six appearances in the Bulgarian Cup and featured in European qualifying during his spell with Loko Plovdiv. His record also includes appearances in Hungary’s top two divisions, as well as further domestic and regional competition in Thailand.

At 2.02 metres tall, Gomis brings considerable physical presence to Java United’s midfield. His recent playing experience includes appearances in the ASEAN Club Championship, the Thai FA Cup and the Thai Cup, alongside his Thai League record.

Gomis has changed clubs regularly in recent years, with each of his recorded moves since leaving Paris Saint-Germain’s reserve side completed without a transfer fee. He left BG Pathum United for Uthai Thani in 2025 before making his latest switch to Indonesia.

Java United have now secured Gomis’ arrival from Uthai Thani as a free agent, completing the midfielder’s move to the Indonesian Super League.
