Al Ittihad Alexandria say no crisis over Miloud Hamdi’s unpaid wages

Al Ittihad Alexandria chairman Mohamed Ahmed Salama says the club does not consider there to be a crisis over former manager Miloud Hamdi’s outstanding payments, despite a complaint being submitted over the delay.

Salama said Hamdi is owed only 20 days of salary, worth approximately $16,000, and insisted the amount would be sent to the former manager.

“Miloud Hamdi, the former Al Ittihad Alexandria manager, is owed only 20 days of his salary, which is approximately $16,000, and it will be sent to him. There is no problem,” Salama told FilGoal.com.

The complaint was made because Hamdi had not yet received the money due to him. However, Salama said the club had not been contacted before the complaint was filed.

“No-one contacted us before the complaint was submitted, so we decided not to deal with the manager’s agents at all,” he added.

Hamdi took charge of Al Ittihad Alexandria in April, replacing Tamer Mostafa.

The 55-year-old managed the club in 10 matches. During that period, Al Ittihad Alexandria recorded three wins, four draws and three defeats.

Hamdi left the role at the end of the season, with Hamza El-Gamal appointed as his successor.

The club’s chairman framed the dispute as an outstanding payment that would be settled, rather than a wider financial disagreement between Al Ittihad Alexandria and their former manager. Salama’s comments also made clear that the club’s decision to stop dealing with Hamdi’s representatives followed the lack of contact before the complaint was lodged.

Hamdi’s departure came after his brief spell in charge, which began when he replaced Tamer Mostafa in April. Across his 10 games, the team won three, drew four and lost three before the managerial change at the end of the season.

Al Ittihad Alexandria now have Hamza El-Gamal in charge, while the club says the approximately $16,000 owed to Hamdi will be sent to him.
