Rapid 1923 bring in Ghana left-back Ebenezer Annan on loan from Saint-Etienne

Ghanaian left-back Ebenezer Annan has joined Romanian side FC Rapid 1923 on loan from Saint-Etienne for a fee of €150,000.

The 24-year-old’s move to the SuperLiga club was completed on 25 August 2026, with the loan running until 30 June 2027. Annan, who is 1.78m tall and left-footed, strengthens Rapid’s options at full-back after moving from Saint-Etienne’s Ligue 2 squad.

Annan spent the previous season with Saint-Etienne after joining the French club from Serbian champions Red Star in August 2025 for €2m. He had been part of Red Star’s title-winning teams in the 2024-25 and 2025-26 seasons, while also helping the Belgrade club lift the Serbian Cup in 2025.

Before establishing himself with Red Star, Annan had a spell with OFK Beograd during the 2024-25 campaign. That move came on loan from Red Star, before he returned to the Serbian club at the end of the season.

His earlier career included a permanent move from Bologna to Novi Pazar in July 2024, following an initial loan spell with the Serbian club. Annan had joined Bologna from Imolese in 2023 after beginning his senior career with a loan move from Bologna’s under-19 side.

The Accra-born defender has spent much of his club career outside Ghana, progressing through spells in Italy, Serbia and France before switching to Romania. His arrival gives Rapid 1923 a defender with experience from domestic competitions in several European countries.

Annan’s agreement with Rapid 1923 includes a return to Saint-Etienne at the end of the loan on 30 June 2027. The Ghanaian has now completed his €150,000 loan move to the Romanian club.
