DJK Sudwest bring in German-Moroccan right-back Ziyad Abdellaoui from Bessenich

German-Moroccan defender Ziyad Abdellaoui has joined DJK Sudwest from Bessenich on a free transfer.

The 31-year-old right-back completed the move on 24 August 2026, beginning another chapter in a career that has seen him remain active in German football for more than a decade. No transfer fee was involved in the switch.

Abdellaoui’s primary position is right-back, and he is able to use both feet. Standing 1.80m tall, he arrives at DJK Sudwest after most recently representing Bessenich, where he had returned at the start of 2026.

His first spell at Bessenich began in August 2024, following a move from Hilal Bergheim. He left the club for SV Lovenich/W. in January 2025 before returning to Bessenich 12 months later. Both of those moves were also completed without a fee.

The latest transfer continues a sequence of free moves between German clubs for Abdellaoui. Before joining Bessenich for the first time, he had spent the first half of the 2023-24 season with Hilal Bergheim after leaving Glesch-Paffendorf.

Earlier in his career, the defender played for Meinerzhagen, FSV Gerlingen, Langenaubach and Hennef 05. He joined Meinerzhagen from FSV Gerlingen in August 2022, having moved to Gerlingen from Langenaubach the previous year. His spell at Langenaubach followed a transfer from Hennef 05 in 2020.

Abdellaoui began that part of his senior career with Hennef 05 after leaving Erndtebruck II in January 2019. He had joined Erndtebruck II from SG Betzdorf in July 2018, while his time at SG Betzdorf came after a move from GW Siegen in July 2016.

The switch to DJK Sudwest is therefore the latest in a long line of club changes for the Germany- and Morocco-nationalised defender, with every recorded move in that sequence completed as a free transfer.

Abdellaoui has now joined DJK Sudwest from Bessenich on a free transfer.
