Barcelona abandon interest in Borussia Dortmund striker Serhou Guirassy

Barcelona have abandoned the possibility of signing Serhou Guirassy after discovering the striker’s salary at Borussia Dortmund.

The Catalan club had considered the 30-year-old Guinea international while searching for another centre-forward, but his reported annual wage of €10 million quickly ended their interest.

Guirassy remains under contract with Dortmund until 2028, although he is reportedly open to experiencing a new challenge. Despite that willingness, Barcelona have not made a concrete approach and now appear ready to focus on alternative targets.

The Spanish giants’ preferred option is Julian Alvarez, but Atletico Madrid are blocking the transfer and have shown no desire to facilitate his departure. That complication has forced Barcelona to widen their search as they look for a reliable attacking option.

Nicolo Tresoldi is among the other forwards linked with a possible move to Camp Nou. The Germany Under-21 international currently plays for Club Brugge and is regarded as one of several alternatives under consideration.

Guirassy’s situation therefore remains unchanged. He could still leave Dortmund if a suitable proposal arrives, but Barcelona’s interest has faded because of the financial demands attached to the deal. For now, the forward remains part of the Bundesliga club’s plans while Barcelona continue exploring more affordable solutions for their attack.
