CAF confirms 2026/27 Champions League and Confederation Cup group stage draw date

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed that the group stage draws for the 2026/27 CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup will take place in Cairo, Egypt, on Wednesday, 28 October 2026.

The draws will be held at the headquarters of the Egyptian Football Association, with the Confederation Cup proceedings scheduled to begin at 11:00 GMT, followed by the Champions League draw at 12:00 GMT.

The event will determine the group-stage opponents for the 16 qualified clubs in each competition as they prepare for the next phase of their respective campaigns for continental glory.

CAF’s two premier club competitions bring together some of the continent’s leading teams, with the group-stage draw expected to provide a clearer picture of the challenges facing the remaining contenders.

The 32 qualified teams across both tournaments will be divided into eight groups, with four clubs in each group. The group stage is scheduled to begin in November 2026.

The draw will mark an important milestone in the competitions, as clubs learn the identities of their opponents and begin preparations for the demanding group-stage fixtures.

The Champions League remains the continent’s leading club competition, while the Confederation Cup offers another route to continental silverware for clubs seeking to establish themselves on the African stage.

CAF has also confirmed that both draws will be broadcast live on its official digital platforms, including CAF TV on YouTube, allowing supporters across Africa and beyond to follow the proceedings.

With the group stage approaching, attention will now turn to the draw, which will shape the early paths of the 16 clubs in each competition as they pursue African club football’s most prestigious honours.
