Poku set for Fiorentina move in deal worth up to €22m
Ernest Poku has agreed to join Fiorentina from Bayer Leverkusen, with the transfer now at an advanced stage and expected to be completed shortly.
The 23-year-old has given his final approval to the move to Italy, while Fiorentina and Bayer Leverkusen work through the remaining administrative details. The Viola are hoping to conclude the operation this week before formally announcing Poku’s arrival in Serie A.
According to information from Footy-Africa, the proposed deal is a one-year loan containing an option to buy that could become mandatory if certain conditions are met. The overall value of the transaction could reach €22m.
Fiorentina have already reached an agreement with Poku over a contract that would run until 2031. The arrangement would cover the initial season-long loan and four further seasons if the Italian club completes a permanent transfer.
Poku is understood to be keen on the move because he wants to secure more regular first-team football. The winger, who has Ghanaian heritage, joined Bayer Leverkusen from AZ Alkmaar in August 2025 for a reported fee of €10m. He remains under contract with the German club until June 2030.
The Hamburg-born player was developed by AZ Alkmaar and made 29 appearances for Bayer Leverkusen in all competitions last season. He scored five goals and provided seven assists during that campaign.
Fiorentina are now completing the final paperwork before confirming the transfer. If the deal is finalised as expected, Poku will continue his career in Italy after his spell in the Bundesliga.
Bayer Leverkusen are due to begin their German league campaign shortly with a home match against SV Elversberg. Betting odds listed by 1xBet make Bayer Leverkusen the clear favourites, with the German champions priced at 1.50 for victory. A draw is listed at 4.45, while an SV Elversberg win is priced at 5.00.
The match provides Bayer Leverkusen with their first competitive league fixture of the season, while Poku’s potential departure would leave the club waiting to see whether the winger remains part of their plans or completes his move to Fiorentina.
