Edouard Mendy receives award in Saudi Arabia

Senegal international goalkeeper Edouard Mendy has been rewarded for his outstanding performances in the Saudi Pro League last season after receiving the Golden Glove award.

The 34-year-old enjoyed an impressive campaign with Al-Ahli, finishing the season with 14 clean sheets — the highest tally recorded by any goalkeeper in the Saudi top flight.

Mendy’s consistency and commanding displays between the posts played an important role in Al-Ahli’s campaign and earned him individual recognition for his efforts.

The Senegalese shot-stopper received the prestigious award on Saturday, August 22, during his first league appearance since recovering from an injury suffered while representing Senegal at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The Golden Glove serves as recognition of Mendy’s impressive form since moving to Saudi Arabia in 2023, while also providing a boost as he returns to competitive action.

Mendy will now be hoping to build on last season’s success and continue playing a key role for Al-Ahli as the new Saudi Pro League campaign progresses.
