Ammar Al-Ghamdi will lead the list of young players attracting attention when the Jawwy Elite League resumes after a break of more than three weeks.
The Saudi Under-21 competition returns on Monday with five matches, followed by seven more fixtures the next day. Al-Ghamdi, the Al-Ittihad forward, will be among the main players to watch when his side host Al-Kholoud in the final match of the round.
The attacking forward has been one of the standout performers of the current campaign, scoring important goals in a variety of ways. His form reached its peak in the previous round when he scored a hat-trick in Al-Ittihad’s 3-1 victory over Al-Faisaly.
That performance earned him recognition as the competition’s best player for September. Al-Ghamdi has scored in four consecutive matches and has six goals this season, with Al-Kholoud next in his sights.
Mousa Adam and Luai Al-Obaidi
Across Jeddah, Al-Ahli forward Mousa Adam has also scored in each of the past four rounds. His only blank so far came in the opening round, when team-mate Ziyad Aba scored a hat-trick against Al-Fayha.
Adam will face Al-Wehda next and will be expected to continue his scoring run against a side with the second-worst defensive record in the league. Al-Wehda have conceded 11 goals, the same number as Al-Jabalain.
Al-Hilal’s Tunisian striker Luai Al-Obaidi is another player in strong form. He scored twice against Neom and added another goal against Al-Jabalain in the most recent two rounds, despite Al-Hilal being held to a 3-3 draw in the latter match.
Al-Obaidi has an opportunity to improve his tally against Al-Watn, who conceded four goals in a single match against Al-Ahli.
Jefferson Ramos and Asim Mohammed
Al-Fateh, currently second in the Jawwy Elite League, will meet Al-Najma as they continue their challenge at the top of the table. Cape Verde forward Jefferson Ramos will have the same objective as his club.
Ramos has scored six goals this season, including the winner in Al-Fateh’s victory over Al-Urubah in the previous round. He could add to that total against Al-Najma, who have conceded nine goals in five matches, an average approaching two per game.
For Al-Nassr forward Asim Mohammed, the next round represents a chance to end a difficult start to the season. He will face bottom club Al-Tadhamon in Riyadh, having yet to score despite impressing last season.
Al-Tadhamon have the league’s weakest defence, conceding 16 goals in four matches at an average of four per game. Their record helped Al-Ettifaq’s Mohammed Al-Essa become the competition’s leading scorer after he scored four times in a 10-goal victory.
Mohammed will hope to produce a similar performance and begin his own challenge for the scoring title.
