Terem Moffi joins Hamburger SV in bid to revive Bundesliga career
Terem Moffi has left OGC Nice to join Hamburger SV, with the Nigeria international signing a three-year contract after successfully completing his medical, according to L’Equipe.
The 27-year-old forward arrived in Hamburg just over 24 hours before the move was finalised, bringing an end to a difficult period on the French Riviera. He will now continue his career in the Bundesliga as he looks to regain his form in Germany.
OGC Nice are expected to receive up to 2.5m euros for the transfer, including potential bonuses. The payment allows the French club to draw a definitive line under Moffi’s time at the club and move on from their centre-forward.
Moffi joined OGC Nice after establishing himself as a Nigeria international, but his latest season proved challenging. The striker will now attempt to rebuild his reputation in the colours of Hamburger SV, where the club hope he can provide a fresh attacking option.
According to Transfermarkt, Moffi’s current market value is estimated at 8m euros. That figure is considerably higher than the fee OGC Nice are set to receive, although the final amount could rise if the conditions linked to the bonuses are met.
Before leaving Nice, Moffi earned an annual salary of 900,000 euros, equivalent to 585,000,000 CFA francs. His move to Germany represents a new stage in a career he will now hope to relaunch after an unsettled campaign.
The transfer was completed soon after his arrival in Hamburg, with the medical examination and contract formalities both completed within a short period. His three-year agreement gives him the opportunity to establish himself at the German club while returning to Bundesliga football.
OGC Nice are due to play their second match of the French championship against Paris FC shortly. Betting company 1xBet lists OGC Nice at odds of 3.20 to win that fixture, with a draw priced at 3.30 and a Paris FC victory at 2.10.
Moffi’s departure means he will not be involved for OGC Nice in that upcoming match, as his next challenge will come with Hamburger SV in the Bundesliga. The Nigerian forward’s immediate objective is to regain regular football and rediscover the form that made him a valued international striker.
