The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has opened the bidding process for the broadcast rights to the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, which will be hosted jointly by Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.

The tender covers free-to-air television and pay-TV rights across Sub-Saharan Africa, with CAF seeking to ensure wide coverage of the continent’s premier men’s football tournament.

Broadcasters invited to bid

Media companies can bid for rights to broadcast the tournament in a range of languages, including English, Swahili, Portuguese, isiZulu, Wolof and Yoruba, as well as other local languages.

However, French-language pay-TV rights are not included in the current tender.

Interested broadcasters and media organisations have until 14 September 2026 at 17:00 Cairo time to submit their bids.

East Africa prepares for historic AFCON

AFCON 2027 will take place from 19 June to 17 July 2027, with Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda becoming the first three East African nations to jointly stage the competition.

The tournament is expected to attract millions of viewers across Africa, increasing the importance of securing extensive television coverage in the region and beyond.

CAF’s latest move forms part of its preparations for the tournament as the governing body seeks broadcasting partners capable of bringing the competition to audiences across Sub-Saharan Africa.

The bidding process is expected to generate significant interest from broadcasters and media companies keen to secure access to one of Africa’s biggest sporting events.
