Omar Marmoush named among Manchester City substitutes for Bournemouth opener
Omar Marmoush has been left on the bench for Manchester City’s opening Premier League match against Bournemouth, amid growing reports that the forward could be nearing the end of his time at the club.
Marmoush is not included in Manchester City’s starting XI for the fixture, with Erling Haaland selected to lead the attack alongside Antoine Semenyo and Phil Foden.
The Egyptian forward’s place among the substitutes comes as speculation continues to link him with a move to Tottenham. Several reports have suggested that Marmoush could leave Manchester City, while a separate report claimed Tottenham are confident of completing a deal for the player.
No transfer has been confirmed, but the latest team selection adds further focus to Marmoush’s immediate future at Manchester City. He will begin the match from the bench as Pep Guardiola’s side open their Premier League campaign against Bournemouth.
Manchester City’s starting line-up is:
Gianluigi Donnarumma
Marc Guehi, Abdukodir Khusanov, Ruben Dias, Josko Gvardiol
Rico Lewis, Nico O’Reilly, Elliot Anderson
Phil Foden, Erling Haaland, Antoine Semenyo
Haaland is the central attacking option in the selected XI, with Semenyo and Foden named either side of him in the front line. Marmoush must therefore wait for his opportunity from the substitutes’ bench.
The decision means Manchester City will begin their league campaign without Marmoush in the starting attack, despite his continued involvement in the matchday squad. His inclusion among the substitutes leaves open the possibility of an appearance, although his role will depend on how the game develops.
The selection also comes at a time when Tottenham’s reported interest has intensified. The available reports indicate that the London club believe they can secure Marmoush’s transfer, while Manchester City’s decision to leave him out of the starting line-up is likely to prompt further attention on the situation.
For now, Marmoush remains a Manchester City player and is available to be introduced against Bournemouth. However, with Tottenham reportedly moving closer to a deal, the forward’s position has become one of the main talking points around the team before the opening Premier League fixture.
Manchester City’s team includes a new-look defensive line featuring Donnarumma, Guehi and Khusanov, while Dias and Gvardiol complete the back four. Lewis, O’Reilly and Anderson form the midfield selected behind the attacking trio.
The match will begin with Marmoush among the substitutes and Haaland, Semenyo and Foden entrusted with leading Manchester City’s attack.
