Ajax add France-Guinea midfielder Abdoulaye Camara on season-long loan

Ajax have completed the signing of 17-year-old France-Guinea midfielder Abdoulaye Camara from Udinese on a season-long loan, with the defensive midfielder joining the Eredivisie club until 30 June 2027.

Camara, who is right-footed and stands 1.88m tall, moves to Amsterdam after spending the previous season with Udinese. The transfer takes him from Serie A to the Netherlands, while his deal with Ajax is scheduled to end on 30 June 2027, when he is due to return to the Italian club.

Born in Conakry, Guinea, Camara has French and Guinean nationality. He began his youth career with SC Air Bel before joining Montpellier’s academy, progressing from the club’s under-17 side to Montpellier U19.

Udinese signed Camara from Montpellier U19 on 16 July 2025 for €1.2m. He had a market value of €1.5m at the time of his move to Ajax.

Camara’s arrival gives Ajax a teenage option in defensive midfield as the club adds a player who has already made the move from French youth football to senior-level European football. His transfer history shows a rapid progression through academy football: he moved to Montpellier U17 in July 2023, stepped up to the under-19 team a year later and then joined Udinese in the summer of 2025.

The move to Ajax was completed on 22 August 2026. It is recorded as a loan transfer, with no purchase fee specified, and no permanent transfer has been attached to the agreement.

Camara’s first recorded campaign with Udinese included Italy Cup involvement in the 2026-27 season, although he had not made an appearance in the competition before switching clubs. His move to Ajax now places him in the Dutch top flight for the 2026-27 campaign.

The midfielder’s Ajax agreement runs through 30 June 2027, after which the scheduled end of the loan sends him back to Udinese. Abdoulaye Camara has therefore joined Ajax from Udinese on loan for the 2026-27 season.
