Mestre complete loan move for Nigerian forward Taiwo Olonisakin

Mestre have added Nigerian centre-forward Taiwo Olonisakin from Dolomiti on loan, bringing the 27-year-old to the club from Serie C for the 2026-27 season.

Olonisakin switches to the Serie D – C side after spending the previous two seasons with Dolomiti. He joined Dolomiti from Bassano on a free transfer in July 2024 and now moves on after two years with the club.

The striker was born in Nigeria on 25 May 1999 and stands 1.83m tall. He is right-footed and operates primarily through the centre of the attack, giving Mestre an experienced forward option as they begin their latest campaign.

The move was completed on 22 August 2026, with Olonisakin becoming a Mestre player on a temporary basis. His loan is scheduled to run until 30 June 2027, when he is due to return to Dolomiti.

Olonisakin’s move to Dolomiti followed an earlier spell at Bassano, where he also arrived without a transfer fee. He had joined Bassano from Maestrelli Rubano in August 2023, having previously represented Campodarsego, Este and Luparense.

His senior club career began with Valdivara in 2017, following his time at Abuja College. He subsequently played for La Pieve and Sasso Marconi before moving to Luparense in January 2021. The sequence of transfers has kept the Nigerian forward within the Italian football system since his arrival in Europe.

At Mestre, Olonisakin joins a squad competing in Serie D – C after moving down a division from Dolomiti’s Serie C – A setting. His arrival was registered at the start of the 2026-27 campaign, although he had not featured in the Coppa Italia Serie C before completing the switch.

The forward’s current transfer value is recorded at €100,000, while his highest recorded value was €125,000 during his time with Bassano. Those figures do not represent a fee for the loan move, which is recorded as a loan transfer rather than a permanent deal.

Olonisakin has therefore moved through a succession of Italian clubs before taking up his latest challenge in Mestre. The Nigeria-born striker’s temporary transfer from Dolomiti was completed on 22 August 2026, with the agreement running until the end of June 2027.
