Farès Chaïbi scores for Eintracht Frankfurt in German Cup win

Algerian international Farès Chaïbi marked the start of his new season with a goal as Eintracht Frankfurt opened their campaign with an emphatic 11-0 victory over SC St. Tönis in the German Cup.

Chaïbi came off the bench in the 69th minute and needed only 21 minutes to make his mark, scoring Frankfurt’s final goal in the 87th minute as they secured a place in the second round.

The 22-year-old received the ball on the left side before taking on his marker and cutting inside. He then finished with a precise effort into the bottom corner to complete the scoring.

The goal provided further evidence of Chaïbi’s strong form after an encouraging period during pre-season.

The Algerian had already played a decisive role during Frankfurt’s preparations for the new campaign, registering an assist against Hull City before setting up another goal against FSV Frankfurt.

Those performances had given Chaïbi a positive start to the build-up and strengthened his position in the eyes of Eintracht Frankfurt coach Adi Hütter.

His latest contribution came in the club’s first competitive fixture of the season, with Frankfurt producing an overwhelming performance to progress in the German Cup.

Chaïbi’s introduction in the second half gave him an opportunity to continue his momentum from pre-season, and he took it with a composed finish late in the match.

The Algerian international’s goal was the final piece of a dominant display from Frankfurt, who scored 11 times against SC St. Tönis without conceding.

The result secured Frankfurt’s qualification for the second round of the competition and gave the team considerable confidence at the beginning of the campaign.

For Chaïbi, the goal also strengthens his case for more involvement when Frankfurt begin their Bundesliga campaign.

Eintracht Frankfurt will play their opening league match on Saturday, 29 August, when they travel to face Union Berlin at 15:30.

With several players unavailable and Chaïbi having made a strong impression during pre-season and the German Cup, he is expected to be in contention for a starting position in Frankfurt’s first Bundesliga fixture.

His goal against SC St. Tönis means the Algerian has continued the momentum he built during the preparation period and has given Hütter another reason to consider him for a more prominent role.

After contributing assists during pre-season and scoring in Frankfurt’s first official match, Chaïbi will now look to carry that form into the Bundesliga campaign.
