Ismail Mohamad leaves Al-Duhail to strengthen Al-Ahli’s wide options

Qatar and Sudan winger Ismail Mohamad has joined Al-Ahli SC from Al-Duhail SC, completing a move within Qatar’s Stars League on 21 August 2026.

The 36-year-old, who plays on the right wing and favours his right foot, arrives at Al-Ahli after a lengthy spell with Al-Duhail. He brings extensive experience of domestic football and Asian competition, having made 262 Stars League appearances, scoring 40 goals and providing 56 assists.

Mohamad has also featured 72 times in the AFC Champions League, where he has scored nine goals and registered six assists. His record includes appearances in the Amir Cup, Qatar Cup, QSL Cup, Sheikh Jassim Cup and Club World Cup, underlining the breadth of his experience at club level.

His honours list includes seven Qatari league titles. He won five of those championships with Al-Duhail and two during his time with Lekhwiya SC, the club he joined from El-Jaish in July 2011. He also won the Emir of Qatar Cup, two Qatari League Cups, two Qatari Super Cups and the Qatari Stars Cup.

On the international stage, Mohamad has been part of Qatar’s successful sides in several regional and continental competitions. He won the Asian Cup in 2023, the Arabian Gulf Cup during the 2013-14 campaign and the West Asian Championship in 2013.

Mohamad’s career has been closely tied to Qatari football. Before joining Lekhwiya, he moved from El-Jaish’s reserve side to the senior team in July 2009. His club record also includes 15 Amir Cup appearances, eight Qatar Cup matches and five QSL Cup outings.

The winger has recorded 14,957 minutes in the Stars League, with a goal every 374 minutes in the competition. In the AFC Champions League, he has played 4,205 minutes and scored once every 467 minutes.

Al-Ahli’s signing adds an experienced wide player to the club’s squad as Mohamad begins his next chapter in Qatar’s top flight. He has now completed his transfer from Al-Duhail SC to Al-Ahli SC.
